Criminal Cases

In criminal cases, protecting your rights starts at the very first stage; what is said during the investigation and the defenses and documents submitted may affect the entire course of the case. The Law of Criminal Procedure guarantees every accused person the right to seek the assistance of an agent or lawyer for their defense during the investigation and trial stages. We assist individuals and businesses at these stages through careful study of the facts and procedures, in complete confidentiality.

How we help

  • Studying the case file, the charge brought, and the available records and documents.
  • Attending with the client during the investigation and trial within the scope of the engagement, and submitting written comments and requests.
  • Preparing defense memoranda, procedural and substantive defenses, and the response to the public prosecution's indictment.
  • Representing the victim of a crime in claiming their private right, or defending against such a claim.
  • Preparing the appeal against the judgment, by way of a request for appeal or review, and filing it within the statutory deadline.

What to prepare for the review

Send whatever documents you have related to your matter. We will identify any additional needs after the initial review.

  • Any summons, notice or record you received from the competent authority.
  • A written summary of the facts in chronological order, and the names of any witnesses.
  • Documents, correspondence and electronic messages related to the matter.
  • A copy of the judgment deed and the date you received it, if the case is at the appeal stage.

How work begins

We first determine the stage the case has reached: preliminary inquiry, investigation, trial or appeal. We then review the relevant documents and deadlines, and explain to you in writing the available procedures and the scope of the engagement before starting.

Frequently asked questions

Am I entitled to a lawyer during the investigation?

Yes. Article 4 of the Law of Criminal Procedure provides that every accused person may seek the assistance of an agent or lawyer for their defense during the investigation and trial stages, and Article 70 provides that the investigator may not separate the accused from their agent or lawyer present with them.

How long is the period for appealing a criminal judgment?

The period for appealing by way of a request for appeal or review is thirty days under the Law of Criminal Procedure, and the right to appeal lapses if it is not filed within that period; therefore, the date of receiving a copy of the judgment deed should be checked as soon as it is issued.

Do you also represent victims of crime?

Yes. The victim can be represented in claiming their private right, including examining what is needed to prove the harm and its extent.

Can an acquittal or a specific outcome be guaranteed?

The outcome of any case cannot be guaranteed; the judgment rests with the court based on the evidence and the facts. We are committed to studying the file carefully and presenting the defense in accordance with the law.

Do you handle criminal cases outside Riyadh and Jazan?

We provide consultations and case file review remotely for clients in all regions, and arrangements for attending investigation or trial sessions that require in-person attendance are agreed in advance, depending on their location and date.
