Grievance and Cancellation-Claim Deadline Calculator (Board of Grievances)

Before seeking cancellation of an administrative decision, a grievance must be filed within sixty days of learning of it. The body has sixty days to decide, and silence counts as rejection. The claim is then filed within sixty days of learning of the rejection or of the decision period ending. This tool follows Art 8 of the Law of Procedure before the Board of Grievances and mirrors the Board’s own guidance calculator.

Grievance and cancellation-claim deadlines

A grievance asks the administrative body to reverse its decision; the claim asks the administrative court to cancel it.

Date type:

Where is the grievance filed?

For administrative decisions generally, with the body that issued the decision, within sixty days of learning of it (by notice, or publication in the Official Gazette if notice is impossible). For civil-service matters, with the Ministry of Civil Service only (now the Ministry of Human Resources), not the employing body.

When is the cancellation claim filed?

  • If the grievance is rejected: within sixty days of learning of the rejection.
  • If sixty days pass without a decision: within the next sixty days.
  • Civil service: if the Ministry rules in your favour and the body does not comply within sixty days of notification, within the next sixty days.

Filing early in urgent cases

The court may accept the claim during the grievance period in urgent cases if combined with a request to suspend the decision, provided a grievance was filed (Art 8).

How the dates are counted

The triggering day is not counted, and a deadline falling on an official holiday extends to the next working day, as the Board’s guidance calculator states and Art 22 of the Law of Sharia Procedure provides (applied through Art 60). For challenges to a judgment, use the judgment challenge deadline calculator.
